Notice of Regatta2003 505 Pacific Coast ChampionshipMay 23-25, 2003Hosted by Mission Bay Yacht Club and 505 Fleet 3Sponsored by Ballast Point Brewery, Sailing Supply and Ullman SailsEligibility: All skippers and crews must be members of a National 505 Class Association Rules: The regatta will be governed by the 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing, prescriptions of US Sailing, the 505 Class rules and the race instructions. This regatta is designated Category “C” Race Instructions: Race instructions will be available at registration. Sponsorship: Regatta sponsorship bow stickers will be placed on the hull in the forward third of each participating boat. Measurement: All boats are required to have valid measurement certificates. A simplified measurement can be performed but must be completed prior to May 23, 2003. Contact Dan Merino to arrange a simplified measurement. Only sails without valid measurement stamps will be measured. The regatta organizers intend to weigh all boats. Entry Fee: Early entry fee is $65.00 ($70.00 for non-US Sailing members) if mailed before May 9th. Add $20.00 if mailed after May 9th. Entry fee includes dinner and drinks Friday and Saturday nights. Schedule of events: Thurs, May 22 1:00pm- 7:30pm Early registration, and measurement Friday May 23 8:00am – 9:45am Registration and measurement Saturday May 24 9:45am Skippers meeting if needed Sunday May 25 12:00pm Warning for Race 7 Courses: Courses will be combinations of windward leewards and triangles. Gate starts will be used. Scoring: The Low Point scoring system will be used, rule A2 will apply. Three races will be required to constitute a regatta. At present no throw-outs are planned. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top three skippers and crews. Prizes will also be awarded to the top two skippers and crews in the classic division (hull numbers lower than 6500). Parking: Trailers and boats can be parked inside the club premises along the northwest fence in the parking lot. Launching: Two hoists and beach launching are available. Accommodations: Fleet three will house as many out of town sailors as possible.
