SCRA Turkey Regatta

November 7, 2004

Six races in 0 to 8 knot variable breeze from the south and southwest. Generally cloudy sky with occasional light rain. One or two lap windward/leewards which were very short as much of the bay was filled with Sabots. Four boats - John Billings and crew on Kitty, Channing and crew on TGIF, Harry and Rick on Fiddler's Green, and Mark and Mike on White Trash. Very close racing with boats frequently overlapped and everybody spending significant time in front. John headed in after 3 or 4 races as he was still recovering from the flu. Our finishes were 1-2-1-1-1-1, but could have easily been worse. Several pitchers at the bar after the boats were put away.

You guys who missed it should have rallied. It was actually nice sailing in the rain for a change!...

... I don't have complete results, but I'm sure Channing and crew were second overall. They sailed very well. They were frequently in the lead, won the second race by a considerable distance, and were second, usually by only a few boatlengths, in most if not all of the other races. I think Mike and Mark were third and John and crew were fourth.

Too bad you missed out. It was a lot of fun!

Regards,

Rick Harris
